The Best Time of Year to Get Married in South Florida
South Florida is one of the few places in the country where you can marry outdoors in any month — but the season you choose still shapes everything from the weather and your budget to how your photos and film will look. Here's an honest, month-by-month guide to timing a South Florida wedding.
Winter and early spring (November–April): peak season
This is prime wedding season in South Florida, and for good reason. The "dry season" brings warm, sunny days, low humidity, and cool evenings — close to perfect for outdoor ceremonies and beach portraits. The trade-off is demand: the best venues and vendors book up first and command peak pricing, often a year or more in advance.
Summer (June–September): the off-season
Summer is hot and humid, with near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and the Atlantic hurricane season running June through November. It's not most couples' first choice — but it has real upsides: significantly lower pricing, wide venue availability, lush green landscapes, and dramatic skies. With a smart timeline (morning or late-afternoon ceremonies) and an indoor backup plan, a summer wedding can be beautiful and budget-friendly.
Late spring and fall (May and October): the shoulder seasons
May and October are the sweet spots for many couples — generally pleasant weather, a lower chance of storms than mid-summer, and better pricing and availability than peak season. If you want most of the perks of dry season without the peak-season premium, start here.
What this means for your photos and film
Whatever month you choose, the single biggest factor for beautiful imagery is light. Timing your ceremony and portraits near golden hour — the hour after sunrise or before sunset — flatters every season. In the wetter months, a flexible timeline and a covered backup location keep a passing storm from derailing the day (and often deliver the most dramatic skies of all).
